“I’ve spoken about him a few times now, I always say that besides Ronaldo and Messi, I think he’s the best in the world,” Grealish said during his first interview with the club. “I think he has everything. He’s another person I didn’t think people would appreciate so quickly.”

“Usually he takes the ball past the defenders. His last ball was unbelievable. Last season I had six assists and I sat with the manager watching clips of De Bruyne at Villa. I said this is what I wanted to do. I want to play that last ball like him and that’s what I practiced.”

“Last season I finished with 10 assists from 25 or 26 games, which is a good number. That’s what I thought. His way of playing and and he always passed the last ball perfectly.”

“I’ve never played with him. I competed with him a few times, exchanged shirts with him. But he is one of those people I can’t wait to play alongside him.”
